Tall Poppies Drama School has been offering top quality drama and communication programmes since 2006. Originally owned and managed by Del Costello, the business developed a strong brand and following in the region. In 2017, Carmen Wilson became the business owner, and Tall Poppies continues to thrive. All our tutors are industry professionals and are focused on providing a fun, energy filled learning environment for the students they teach. Tutors are fully supported and supervised though a connected, school wide curriculum. Working as a team on programme development, quality control and moderation we ensure that there is consistency across all our curriculum. Guidance and support for tutors comes from our Teaching Practice Advisor. We are 100% committed to providing an extremely high standard of tuition that is focused on the individual.
Carmen counts drama among her top-five inspirations. She has studied, acted and directed extensively for the stage, in the process winning 1996 Wellington's Best Young Female Actress. In 2014 she directed Rongotea School's major production, adjudicated a talent show and was MC for a Hawkes Bay music festival. She has worked with Dr Angie Farrow, Sir Peter Jackson and Phil Mann.
Carmen is also a registered teacher, with passionate commitment to the development of children's self-esteem and communication skill through drama.

Sarah is currently a senior student at Awatapu College. She began singing lessons when she was ten years old, after being in the Children's Choir for 'Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat' at the Regent Theatre in 2013. This was also where Sarah found her love for Musical Theatre. Throughout her life, Sarah has also learnt Dance, Drama and Piano, which further cemented her love for Musical Theatre. In 2018, she was involved in many performances both in and out of school.
Already in 2019, Sarah is playing Scarus in the Massey Summer Shakespeare, Doris in her school's production of 'Sequined Suits and Platform Boots', and hopes to continue being involved in shows.
On top of this, she cannot wait to share her love for Musical Theatre with her students and is looking forward to developing the student's confidence and love for performing.
